Penn State’s Offense – What To Expect 2016

Offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead

Penn State made a significant change in their offense by bringing in offensive coordinator Joe Moorehead who is bringing in a completely new system that he ran at Fordham.  Penn State’s offensive line brings back 4 of 5 of their offensive starters and believe it or not the unit dramatically improved from 2014 to 2014 improving from 111th in adjusted line yards all the way up to 44th. Trace McSorley sounds like he’s going to be the starting QB, and should be excited to run this offense that should average around 80-85 plays according to Moorehead which will put Penn State in the top 20, they were 115th a year ago.

The skill position is absolutely loaded with talent and the potential is there for this offense if they can find a QB to be one of the best in the Big Ten.  In Moorhead’s four seasons in charge of the Rams, he took a 1-10 program and turned it into an FCS playoff team for three consecutive years. He posted a 38-13 record in his time with the Rams.

Moorhead turned a struggling unit into one of the most prolific offenses in the FCS. The two years before he took over, the Rams averaged 21.3 points per game in 2010 and 13.2 points per game in 2011. Moorhead’s first season in charge saw a jump to 31.2 points per game.

Betting Perspective:  I think the long term results will be good, but I don’t see them showing too much with Pittsburgh up on the schedule to follow.  I was actually going to make a play on Kent State as this line has moved 4.5 points to 22.5 and I wrote and spoke about Kent State having a defense that is good enough to win the MAC.  They have 8 returning guys on the defense and are loaded and will blitz from all over.  I thought they could give Penn State some issues and still do, but the overall talent at the skill position along with the improvements on the offensive line and the change in philosophy has me worried so it’s a pass for me.

I am already 3-1 ATS on the young season with a big win on Friday night on my play of the day which takes me over $185,000 in total profit on POD’s in my career!  Today we have a max rated POD available for clients and those plays have rarely missed going 77-45 against the spread for a 63.11% success rate.  There is a reason I am the nations #1 college handicapper, visit freddywills.com for all my picks with a GUARANTEE OR $$ BACK!  Only at Freddywills.com can you get that kind of deal.  You can also check out our recommended top handicappers to follow.
